Humble Beginings

Chantelle and I are both from humble beginnings, born in the beautiful island of Guernsey which is nestled in the English Channel, just off the coast of Normandy and Brittany in France and a short flight away from the English mainland.

Guernsey is steeped in history with evidence of Neolithic burials and Roman remains, the island's rich history of trade and smuggling as well as a beauty that only an island can display. Wildlife so varied and rich, with rare Lilies and orchids, rugged cliffs, beaches galore, and a diverse culture that has evolved over thousands of years, this island of Guernsey as brought us to where we are now.

This gem of an island, along with the other Channel Islands, have inspired us to create blends that will spark memories for all. For tourists who remember digging their toes in the sand while watching the deep crimson red sunset on Cobo Beach, to children who had iced fruit tea with their families, picnics with a fruit punch.

A company like ours begun life in September 2020, from an idea, that tiny spark of inspiration as we poured over magazine articles one day. We both sat and laughed over the taste of a tea we had just poured for ourselves when the bag broke and tiny specks leaked out into our pot.

We then realised that we had no true understanding of what was inside our teabags. These tiny dust like particles just didn't resemble what we thought were leaves. Now, I am not saying that this tea wasn't tea, it was definitely tea, they were leaves but chopped up so fine that they only resembled a manufactured and incredibly processed product. We grabbed the cute box they came in and suddenly saw a whole list of ingredients including a couple of lines stating it contained artificial sweeteners and additives.

We both decided, at that moment, that our love for the goodness that nature was giving us in abundance, deserved better. We wanted people to see the tea they are getting, we wanted the flavours to be as natural as possible, and for people to understand that it is maybe we ought to go back and begin to use strainers rather than teabags and add these to our waste and the environmental breakdown. Let's get back to the humble tea strainer and teapot!

So, from humble beginnings of which, we are still at that early stage where our seed is just planted, we hope to share our passion for great teas, tisanes, tinctures, oils, and balms, with you, our dear customers, and friends.
